Distance Learning

We are excited to get this school year underway! At Cascade Junior High, we will begin the year with Comprehensive Distance Learning (CDL). This page contains information specific to Cascade Junior High and what distance learning will look like for our students.

School begins on September 21, 2020. Students will be enrolled in three classes. At the six-week mark, students will get new classes. The current schedule is as follows:
4th Period 9:30-10:20 am
5th Period 10:20-11:10 am
6th Period 11:10 am-12:00 pm
A more detailed schedule can be found here.

Student schedules are now posted on Tyler SIS. You can log in to Tyler SIS and look at your student's classes. You may see six classes. This is not a mistake. Your student will be taking the first three classes from 9/21/2020 - 10/29/2020. The other classes represent the classes they will take from 11/4/2020 - 12/18/2020. It is also likely that this second group of classes are not correct. We will be fixing and adjusting those over the next few weeks.

Schools PLP
We are using SchoolsPLP for our curriculum during CDL. SchoolsPLP has the same instructional standards that we teach when students are in person at Cascade Junior High. Our staff spent two weeks prior to the start of the school year, learning about SchoolsPLP, navigating the curriculum, and planning lessons.

SchoolsPLP Web Address (Once you have arrived at the login screen, please bookmark the web address. It is finicky and must be typed exactly. If you ever cannot log in, please try retyping the entire web address again.)

SchoolsPLP training video
(Please note that at one point in the video, the narrator discusses course supplies. We will not be using this. If there are things in addition to what we have asked for on our CJHS School Supply LIst, your student’s individual teacher(s) will discuss that individually. The narrator talks fast, so please stop and rewind when you feel it is necessary)

Attendance
We will be taking attendance each day and all three class periods. Students must connect with their three classroom teachers within a 24-hour period to be counted as present. This connection can be via attending a video conference, completing an online activity, or by emailing/calling their teacher. If your student does not connect with each teacher, we will mark them absent. You can excuse these absences by calling 503-749-8030 or emailing [email protected]

Other Resources
Cascade Junior High Library - Cascade Junior High students can check out physical books from the library. Students just need to login to the library page and can view the selection of books available. Students' username is their ID number and their password is their legal first name. We will have more details about when students can pick up books in the next few weeks.

Cascade Junior High Digital Library - We also have the digital library available to our students. This is different than the library link above. Our digital library features books available for digital download. Students' login for the digital library is their student ID number.
