At Cascade Junior High School, we have a variety of clubs to serve a diverse student body. These clubs meet after school and participate in an array of activities. All students are encouraged to get involved in extracurricular activities.
Sign Language Club
- Tuesdays (3:30 - 4:30)
- Mr. Bowman - Room 3
This club teaches students how to communicate via sign language. Students will learn to “talk” from far away from each other, when it’s too loud, and they will be an asset for the deaf and hard of hearing community. Some of the initial topics will include numbers, letters, how to ask questions, common phrases, and basic communication skills.
Oregon Game Project Challenge Club (OGPC)
- Tuesdays and Thursdays (3:30 - 4:45)

This club will help students prepare for a statewide competition in May of 2019. If you like designing a video game, coding, Drawing sprites, making game sounds or writing game backstory and dialog, this club is for you.
Game Club (Board Games and Cards)
- Wednesdays (3:30 - 4:45)
- Mrs. VanCorbach (Mrs. V.) - In the Library
This club will meet once a week to play various games. Students get to choose the games and will have fun while getting to know others. It’s okay to bring snacks & drinks! Some of the games available are Settlers of Catan, Ticket to Ride, Apples to Apples, Uno Attack, Risk, playing cards, Sorry, Blokus, Trouble, and so much more! Feel free to bring a game of your own!
Cascade in Training

Cascade in Training is all about getting kids up and running! Literally! The club trains for a 10k (6.2 miles) race that occurs on the Cascade campus in January. They set goals, develop new mindsets and new muscles to help achieve them. Training is available four days a week, and students are encouraged to attend at least three a week. After the 10k in January, the club continues to train and prepare students for track in March.
Battle of the Books Club
- Thursdays (3:30 - 4:30)
- Mr. Zehr - Room 29
This club will help students prepare for the Battle of the Books which is a local and regional competition. Students will read up to 16 books, and then will be quizzed on the contents of those books in a competition. This club will discuss the books, examine sample questions and practice quizzing each other.
Performing Arts Club
- Thursdays (3:30 - 4:30)
- Mr. Slagle - Room 30
Mr. Slagle will teach students some basics of acting and speaking in front of a group, and students will work on improving their skills through a variety of performances. Then each week students will entertain each other through performing a skit, a monologue, a dramatic or prose interpretation, or a short speech (prepared or impromptu).
